You know the feeling when you’re hungry, on a deadline and don’t know what you want??!
“Era, i’ll head to Statoil”, (the default setting of Irish people everywhere!)
So in I went to the Statoil on the Limerick Road in Mallow and its been changed. Instead of a deli as you expect, they seem to have handed over this to of all people, Supermacs! It not being 2.ooam and the end of a night out I’m about to turn around when I spot it seems different. Very different!
They have a carvery counter as you walk in, then comes the usual fast food counter, and at the end is SuperSubs for the sub sandwiches.
What an experience!
The person I met was so friendly, smiling, showed lots of interest in answering my questions about what they had (i was still a bit bewildered!) and so helpful. Crusty 8″ ciabatta roll, packed (literally!!) in the fillings and all the while chatting away like I was someone important, which I felt I was!
And at the end she said there was a voucher for a soup the next time I’m in and also a loyalty card. And this was what sealed it for me- free roll after just 5 purchases (not 10 as you usually expect!).
Now that’s clever! 10 trips to the cafe, sandwich shop, barbers whatever can take half a year depending on how regularly go there. But 5 trips has way more impact because its within reach!!
Maybe there’s a lesson here for other providers?
Maybe 5 purchases is short enough to encourage more visits?
Either way SuperSubs now has a new customer (poached from a traditionally loyal client of the opposition!!).
And isn’t what Customer Services is supposed to do………..??!
